A COMMUNITY FOR CHANGE
AN ISLAND SUPPORTING THE BLACK LIVES MATTER MOVEMENT
WHO WE ARE
Isle of Wight Black Lives Matters Team
Our team was founded by island resident Georgia England, 19 who reached out to the community in search of a BLM protest on the Isle of Wight. In a failed search, England decided to create a protest herself, organising the Islands first BLM protest alongside a team of young dedicated Islanders.
Since the group began we have successfully run a peaceful protest in Church Litten, Newport with an outstanding response and turn-out from Island residents. We have also managed to raise over £1000 and counting on our gofundme for the Justice for George Floyd Fund, supporting 8 different BLM organisations.
Our mission is ultimately to create a more accepting community. We stand by the global Black Lives Matters Movement and aim to show the rest of the world that the Isle of Wight is listening and that we too will use our voices to fight against systematic corruption and the mistreatment and oppression of the black community.
